Daren Smith, President
Daren Smith founded Smiley Renovations in 1997 after many years of experience in the renovation and construction business. The company is named for an uncle of Daren’s. Daren works very closely with each client identifying challenges and designing solutions to meet their specific needs. Everyone at Smiley Renovations works hard to keep you informed during the entire process. We are all about showing up on time, finishing the job in a timely manner and instilling value for the client. In the end, we like to create great spaces that people enjoy for years to come!
Armin Tehrani, Project Manager and Coordinator
Kevin Wright, Estimating and Design
Kevin joined the Smiley team in 2014. He has extensive experience in the residential remodeling field. He progressively moved up from a laborer and carpenter’s helper to a lead carpenter, project manager and estimator. Most recently he worked at another Design Build firm in the area that specializes on green & sustainable building practices.
Josh Smithson, Best Practices/ Quality Control/ Lead Carpenter
Josh joined the Smiley team in 2001. Having been in the business since high school he brings experience and expertise in the trade to Smiley. Josh has been intimately involved in all CotY Awards, Professional Remodeler Design Awards and Chrysalis Awards won by Smiley. His specialty is in Masonry. He is EPA certified.
Matthew Bailey, Lead Carpenter
Matt has been with Smiley for three years. He has over ten years of experience in the repair and remodeling trades. He spent five years as a cabinet maker, finisher and installer.
Kathy M., Executive Assistant
Kathy has been working with Smiley for the past eight years and enjoys working with clients, helping them with the renovation process. She has over 50 years’ experience in sales and service.
In her spare time, she enjoys doing volunteer work with her church and community and spending time with her Grandchildren.
Kira Lewis, Bookkeeper
Kira has over 15 years of experience as a full-charge bookkeeper. She has worked with many local businesses over the years, and specializes in small business bookkeeping. She is incredibly detailed oriented, dependable and accurate.
Toni Celtnieks, Bookkeeper
Toni Jones Celtnieks is the newest member of Smiley Renovations office staff. With over twenty years accounting experience retirement was not in her future plans so a part time position was just the right fit for both employer and employee!
Jara Shapiro, Marketing Director/ Office Manager
Jara Shapiro joined the Smiley team in November of 2013. Previously she worked in the New York City art world, working in top museums, galleries and most recently was a private art dealer. She decided to switch gears when moving with her family to Maryland. “What attracted me to Smiley was the incredible way they treat their clients. In addition, the one stop shopping mentality, they are with you from the design part of the project to the very end.”
Shane Kelvin Lewis, Carpenter
Shane has more than twenty five years of experience in the carpentry field. He has extensive knowledge in constructing, erecting, installing, finishing and repairing of wooden and metal structures and fixtures on residential and commercial buildings.
